terrible and mean and
full of violence

   red blooded slave ships
that was when we became bodies
she sat there and wished her name was shorter
and that it had less consonants
                                                  said
i should have gone when davina died
nothing left to love here anymore
       counted from one   to four
 and walked to the door

if she hadn't a said it herself      i wouldn't of believed she could
she didn’t feel left out               she felt left in

there was a haze over hong kong
                   green water brought fog
almost all the news was bad
                   singapore fell
slow and sad

she saw 'yes i am an organ donor' tattooed on his chest
he was more committed than the rest
always has been
 always will
              in the night
           air was still
and

you could hear the silence     in the deep breaths of cut necks

terrible and mean and full of violence

the way the game is played today
i need a product
         and to get it placed
doesn't even have to do what i say
just grow the brand    stake the claim

for those of us who would be thieves
the thank you is part of the please
 hand to mouth
feet to knees
no matter how careful    one might be
                           getting caught is
the only part they’ll see

                 always on the horizon

no denying      defying it
                               rely upon it

moving picture excitement
 sparks enlistment
be more than who you are
     no patriot-ism or altru-ism
                 no ism at all

just getting the hell out of town
picking ‘em up and putting ‘em down

faith hope and charity don't mean that much to me  i'm leaning on loyalty

it was looking like put up or shut up but it was more like put up or die

when it's long
          when the sunset sun
                           when the stares    stop
and the diva   is gone

to greece

     to nice

or somewhere in between
terrible and mean and fucking full of violence

the quickening of Q T Lee

la la la     lee le lee     i’ll be disappointed
         see      inevitable

meinyou   youinme
everyone  every thing

    yeah    this too
impervious
still seeking truth   searching roots    follow through
fiddle tunes  the pipes the pipes of old cancun
           furrowed gains neck to pain
 head to head   median migraine

white girl problems    floating free     the quickening of  Q T Lee

hard words to hear two days post
different alone  than the ones i had known
close the door so close to home
the hidden hills are gone girl gone
                                                              gone

do you still turn those leaves    easy as it is to breathe  gertie cage
     the threatening deafening  unsettling
time it takes to leave  myth or mark on anything

she wore flip flops to the club

keep doing what you’re doing see   cause this here  this   this is maddening   we suffering     chanty cheat   surrey sweet  surreptitious on a serif sea
shoes with laces is the way to be

the way to blue    the way to me

the years wear well on those that make it do   that make the truth   hide the proof   start it out as something new   only to end
              as shiny shoes   badnewsandblues
                                   happy birthdays    too
it’s your move

the door was already open because the words   were already spoken
like a token  to the
economy
those white girl problems the hanging heat
                 killing time   killing me

resurrection is as much about when as it is about how
it’s already been decided you can’t un-decide it now

as the once dry eyes find two eighty five
an apology from the past says
‘it’s alright’

anything with a silent s

the world’s gonna end someday   like it did in '93

                                          i’m paraphrasing

it’ couldn’t be    me      man

justcouldn’t    be                          forget about jackson man

sixty isn’t enough

                                             but anne

anne  ?
                                                                        double anne ?

flip side harmony  high
nashville strung down the upside

i thought it was about her   man

but she was just something i made
                                                  i make

got enough wood out here to build a forest

now you’re walking on it
forest
with a silent s
anything with a silent s

the good and the bad making things mix
breaking off money   dope and chicks
the southern storm of dickeybetts hotlicks

beginner’s  scotch and luck
                                              wide eyed dark smiles                 f  u  c  k

some people make                art

                  some people make sense
                                  socrsese start
                film rolls  screen dark

light flickers  on the
light heart

she is a bit of a hurricane
                                    and she always hates me

when did you know you were leaving

how can you tell  if you're breathing

           emotionally focused                   but leaking

the bell rings  your time’s up

secret safe

well     safe enough

jessey drake set me straight

if you go looking i think you will find me right outside melting the snow thought i would tell you in case you wanted to know the cut of your hair and little smile stare told me everything i need to know   i knew you'd come looking you'd be walking up library road  i wasn't worried i wasn't troubled i just thought we got started too slow then you turned to ask me if i'd ever read "on the road"  maybe i'm foolish  maybe i'm blind and maybe it's not rock n roll but maybe you're selfish and just nobody's told you so

i told you it's all cobblestone   i told you so you should have known

still it's a little too honest for all of us liars left standing out here in the snow you can follow my footsteps if you think they might lead you home i want to be gracious i want to be kind i want to hear it all in the headphones  i whisper my worries til they become part of this song
if you go looking i think you'll find me
